By road

There are several ways to approach the port by road:

From the M11: Leave at Junction 8 and join the A120 eastwards, heading for Braintree and Colchester.

From the M25: Take the A12 at Junction 28 (signposted Chelmsford) and then join the A120 at Colchester, after approximately 30 miles.

From the A14: Take the A12 at Ipswich and join the A120 at Colchester.

In all cases at Colchester take the A120 signed Harwich (not London Stansted). On approaching Harwich, follow signs for Harwich International Port.

By rail

Rail passengers can use Harwich International Station, adjacent to the ferry and cruise terminals. There are regular service connections to London (70 minutes) and to other UK destinations.

By Air

London Stansted Airport is within easy reach of Harwich (50 minutes by car or taxi), with Heathrow and Gatwick airports just 2 hours’ drive away.

By Sea

Harwich International has connecting passenger services from Hook of Holland.

By Cycle

Cyclists are advised to follow National Cycle Route 51 to the port and from there follow signs for motorist check-in (it is not possible for cyclists to check-in with foot passengers in the main Passenger Terminal). For those cyclists who choose to make their journey to the port via rail, you are requested to proceed to the eastern end of the platform (towards Harwich town). Please do not ride but wheel your cycle along the platform. From here you are requested to turn immediately right, then right again at the next junction, following exit signs from the port, which is approx. 300 metres ahead, on the left. Once you have passed the security control point on Station Road you will then be able to follow signs for motorist check-in, which is located on your right at the next roundabout.

On Arrival

The port is clearly signposted, so that visitors can navigate the port and find their destination easily.
