Get in touch

Harwich International is ideally located for North Sea freight and passenger traffic to and from Scandinavia and the Benelux nations, offering first class Ro-Ro, ferry, container and bulk operations.

Harwich International is a member of Hutchison Ports, the port and related services division of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CK Hutchison).

Built as a rail ferry port in the 1880s by the Great Eastern Railway, Harwich International has developed and expanded over more than a century into a highly efficient, modern, multipurpose port.

The port, originally named Parkeston Quay after Great Eastern’s chairman Charles Parkes, was privatised in 1984. Strategically located in the southeast quadrant of the UK, Harwich International is on the southern side of the River Stour. In 1998, the port was acquired by Hutchison Ports.

Harwich International recognises that responsible and efficient management systems play a vital role in our business and are therefore proud that these have been formally recognised and are accredited to ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health & Safety).

Passenger services

The port remains one of the UK’s most important passenger ferry terminals, and this success has been boosted by the operation of state-of-the-art vessels on the Harwich to Hook of Holland route.

Harwich International has a long tradition of regular passenger links with Europe, and works hard to maintain its reputation for a high-quality, personal service.

Inside the terminal, there is ample seating near to the ferry operators’ reception desks, with vending machines, toilet facilities and information point.

Border Force Kraken Project

Project Kraken is a joint law enforcement operation tackling maritime border crime.

Here in the UK, we are incredibly lucky to have so many stunning coastlines, bustling ports and harbour towns to enjoy and explore – but if crime and the people behind it are left unchecked, then everybody suffers.

We all have the power to protect our coastal communities from crimes that put them at risk. Border Force with Project Kraken have partnered with Crimestoppers to power the UK Border Watch, providing you with a 100% anonymous channel to report crime.

Call free on 0800 011 3304 or report it online 24/7.
