Renewables & Offshore Wind

Harwich offers a 130-hectare expansion of existing port facilities perfectly located for the offshore industries including manufacturing, assembly and installation

The region already has the largest installed offshore wind capacity in the UK, and energy from local offshore wind and new nuclear sources at Sizewell and Bradwell will drive the development of the Hydrogen Hub, and potential for pink hydrogen.

Harwich can host sheltered deep water with up to 1.4km of quays for heavy lift vessels, jack-ups, barges, and work boats with direct access to the North Sea market in UK and European waters giving unmatched scale of opportunity for both fixed and floating offshore wind projects.

Adjacent to centres of excellence and innovation networks associated with the wider East Coast Clean Energy Cluster, already serving the operations and maintenance market of existing UK windfarms estimated at £1.3 billion per annum by 2030.

Renewables

Having acted as a construction base for the Gunfleet Sands, Greater Gabbard and London Array offshore wind farms, the port has extensive experience in this market sector. It offers a wide range of services, including turbine and foundation storage, dive support, cable transfer, CTV and accommodation vessel operations. Large areas of open storage are also available for long-term rental.

Galloper Wind Farm

Galloper Wind Farm is a 353MW wind farm project, located 30km off the coast of Suffolk. A 60-strong team operates and maintains the wind farm from a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Operations & Maintenance facility in Harwich International Port.

Each year Galloper Offshore Wind Farm’s 56 turbines generate enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 444,000 British homes.
