Flexibility
and first-class stevedoring skills are the essential
ingredients when it comes to handling everything from
containers to a wide range of general cargo and demanding
project cargoes.
Harwich
International Port has a wealth of experience in all aspects
of container and general cargo handling, and has recently
welcomed Sloman Neptun's scheduled service to North Africa
and the Mediterranean.
Sloman
Neptun operates two container ships and two ro-ro vessels
on its UK service, all capable of carrying the full range
of general cargo and containers.
The route
links Harwich and northern Europe with Libya, Algeria,
Tunisia and Malta.
Regular
monthly services from the Port to Cyprus are operated by
both Euromed and EMEL Line. A range of cargo, from small
cars to combine harvesters, is exported on lo-lo and ro-ro
vessels.
Three
ship-to-shore cranes serve the container/ general cargo
berth, where the maximum draft is 9.5 metres, and regularly
accommodate vessels of up to 180 metres in length.
The cranes
are supported by a pool of terminal handling equipment,
including forklift trucks and reachstackers. Large volumes
of containers are also shipped on ro-ro ferry services
to Holland, Germany and Scandinavia.
Harwich
is ideally located for serving the South East UK, Midlands
and further afield. The excellent rail and road links provide
options for handling almost any type of cargo. |
