London Thamesport Introduces E-mail Alerts System
11th December 2008

London Thamesport has introduced an e-mail alerts system to update hauliers and port users on operational conditions, as well as providing other useful port-related information.

Importantly, the system is able to provide real-time information on current operational conditions, as well as giving updates on future events, such as adverse weather predictions, that may have an impact on the Port’s operations.

The system functions by sending e-mail updates of operational conditions at the Port, and other useful information, to those who have registered for the service. Users can select e-mail updates from a list relevant to their specific area of the industry, such as quayside or landside operations.

Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited, which owns London Thamesport, said:

“We are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve our service to customers. The introduction of an e-mail alerts system at London Thamesport will provide a valuable resource to enable hauliers and other port users to plan their daily activities at the Port more efficiently and effectively.”

The introduction of operational e-mail alerts at London Thamesport follows the successful implementation of the system at the Port of Felixstowe in Summer 2008, where over 2,500 members are now registered.
