The Port of Felixstowe’s Trinity Terminal has been named “Freight Facility of the Year” at the annual IFW Freighting Industry Awards
Trinity Container Terminal is the largest container handling facility in the UK. It has the longest continuous quay at 2,354m and serves some of the largest container ships currently afloat. It has seven deep-water berths, is equipped with 25 ship-to-shore gantry cranes, and at 131.6 hectares overall, has a stacking capacity of 66,237 TEU.
Commenting on the 2006 Award Ceremony held at the Honourable Artillery Company grounds in London, Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Ports (UK) Limited, owner of the Port of Felixstowe commented:
“We are extremely pleased to have been recognised by the Industry and to be given this award. We are very proud of Trinity Terminal, and to our dedicated employees for the role they play in keeping the UK economy running smoothly. The demand for goods in the UK is increasing at a very steady rate, and it is important that facilities such as Trinity Terminal are able to keep up with the pace”
The award was collected by Trinity Terminal Manager Alistair Campbell.
